If you are starting to notice some fine lines and wrinkles on your face, you might have thought about getting BOTOX. Certainly, it is an effective treatment. However, you might have come across another product name while learning about BOTOX: Xeomin. What exactly is Xeomin, how is it different from BOTOX, and how can you determine which treatment is right for you? This blog post provides some interesting information.

BOTOX and Xeomin: The Similarities

BOTOX and Xeomin are anti-wrinkle treatments that feature the same main ingredient: botulinum toxin. When these formulas are carefully injected into the facial muscles, they limit movements. This forces the muscles to relax and causes the skin on top of them to take on a smoother, more youthful appearance.

The duration of both treatments is similar, with most patients requiring additional injections every 3 – 6 months. Dosage amounts are also the same — for example, 20 units of BOTOX has the same strength as 20 units of Xeomin.

BOTOX and Xeomin: The Differences

BOTOX and Xeomin feature slightly different formulas. Xeomin has just one ingredient, whereas BOTOX has some additives that are clustered around the active neurotoxin molecules.

Because of the variances in formulas, these two products perform differently in a few ways:

  • It might take slightly longer for you to notice results from Xeomin than BOTOX (the difference might be just a day or two).
  • There is a lower chance of developing resistance to Xeomin, which means it may be better for people who want to keep up their results long-term.
  • Unlike Xeomin, BOTOX must be refrigerated before use. Therefore, Xeomin is easier to store and transport.

Which One Is Right for You?

There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to choosing between BOTOX and Xeomin. Both are effective, and both are widely available. However, more and more people are starting to choose Xeomin due to the decreased risk of resistance.

If you are finding it difficult to choose an anti-wrinkle product, talk to a qualified cosmetic provider. They can help you compare the pros and cons of all your options.

Either BOTOX or Xeomin could help you turn back the clock! Be sure to learn about both of these products before you make any decisions.
